TNRG established a relationship with TMBCI for a formalized process to protect the people, culture, and natural resources of TMBCI.

TNRG established and manages the TMBCI Research Department:
- Tribal RRB
- Research Catalog
- Establish a data center/repository that will be the official reporting entity for the TMBCI and subsidiaries.
- Inform and educate the TMBCI community about the research process, data use, data ownership, and distribute updates about research.

The TMBCI Research Review Board consists of highly qualified tribal members who are responsible for the oversight and approval of all research and systemic collection of data on the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indian Reservation and adjacent lands. The Research Review Board is a board of volunteers who receive no monetary gain but are simply committed to improving the quality of life through culturally competent, custom-fit research.
TMBCI Research Protection Act was adopted into law July 31, 2014. It is a violation of the law to bypass the Research Review Board before conducting any type of research or data collection of the TMBCI tribe.
